What is the SSD Local Business Center?

The SSD-LBC is a service center located on the second floor of Kelly Hall (K206).Organizationally, each department in the division has its own Faculty Service Representative (FSR). The FSRs are responsible for:

• Both pre- and post-award grant and contract management
• Payroll and personnel services
• Unrestricted Account management and general financial services (for instance, executing spending requests from faculty who have Divisional research funds)

The creation of the SSD-LBC is a Social Sciences re-organizational initiative that parallels a general University attempt to reduce administrative costs

(1) by concentrating administrative resources at the middle organizational level in the University,

(2) through extensive and focused training for all staff, and

(3) through the application of technology and redesigned administrative processes and procedures.

The SSD-LBC will be a source of information regarding University Policies and administrative procedures. The web forms that are presented as a part of these websites serve as one means to request action or seek information from SSD-LBC staff. Faculty and staff are also encouraged to stop in.
